Hi all,

I thought I might take today to put the spotlight on a new ruler that I have discovered: Bloc_Loc. These rulers are really neat. They are perfect for squaring up those pesky half-square triangle blocks because the ruler had a groove in the center that "hugs" the seam of your HST, keeping it centered. Now, I have to admit that in the past I was really lazy about squaring up blocks, but in the last few months, I have gotten into a "perfection" kick and I've taken to sewing my blocks slightly larger and then trimming them. So, without further ado, here's some pictures of the Bloc_Loc in action!

Today I started printing the photos for our wedding quilt. This is the most fun I've had planning something in a LONG time. Probably because I didn't really think I was ever going to get married... so I have been eating up every single momento from that day. First off, major SHOUT OUT to my Mom for hooking me up with a new large format printer that allows me to print 13 X 19 sheets! Makes planning these photo quilts soo much easier, plus I waste a lot less fabric! I started by test printing the photos I was going to use on to paper, just to make sure the resolution and such was the way I wanted it. Then I moved on to printing on my EQ Printables fabric sheets.

A while back I blogged about a quilt I was planning to make for some friends of ours who were married last November. I finally got started piecing it and laying it out on the design wall. I think it is going to look pretty cool, if I do say so myself!

So, I think I have found my new favorite long arm quilting tool! I am having so much fun learning how to use my 3D Threader. It allows me to give some really fun texture and depth to the quilts that I am working on. I just loaded a flannel quilt onto my machine and started working on it with the 3D threader. I am loving the results!

Last week I had the opportunity to quilt some really fun circles on a quilt for a customer. She had done a lovely job piecing and pressing the quilt top, so my job was super easy.

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a conference S.U.G.A.R. which allowed me to learn so very much about my new Gammill Statler quilting machine. While I was there, I saw a new product called the "3D Threader" which allows for up to 3 different threads to be used at the same time on the machine.


I have a quilt top that I have been working on for about 5 years now. It is made up of different fabrics from a line called "Lonestar State" and was supposed to be completed while I was still living in Georgia to give me a little piece of home. The joke was that I was going to have moved back to Texas before the quilt was done. My how things can change. Since I'm staying in Nebraska indefinitely now, I thought it would be good for me to finish it. I knew I wanted a red, white, and blue thread to be used on it, so I decided to try out my 3D threader using a red, a blue and a metallic silver thread. I was super happy with the results.

These cute little guys are part of an embroidery design pack by Nancy H. Barrett for OESD a few years ago and, since I LOVE elephants... they were on the top of my list of things to do... then I moved, got married, you know, life happened. SO.... A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to embroider the name, weight and birthdate of a new baby for a customer. I had a lot of fun putting the embroidery on the quilt for her, especially since she had done such a nice job piecing it!

Today I decided to be slightly selfish while I was at the studio sewing. I spent the majority of the time I was there working on the border blocks for a purely personal project! I have been working on this monstrosity of a quilt for over three years now (it's going to finish at about 120 inches by 120 inches square!) and I am hoping that sometime in the coming months it will be finished so that I can QUILT IT! I fell in love with this line from BasicGrey when it came out. It is called Eva and has some lovely peacocks and colors in the collection.

I recently had the opportunity to make a t-shirt quilt as a graduation gift for the daughter of a family friend. I was really happy with how it turned out. I've really enjoyed the handful of t-shirt quilts I've been able to work on lately. Designing them is really fun and I like seeing all the interesting and different shirts that people send me. The shirts in this quilt were mainly soccer, as the recipient is an awesome soccer player who is planning on playing in college. I really enjoyed making this quilt, and judging by the reaction of the recipient, I think she likes it too :)

Hi all,

Today I was able to finish piecing two more quilts. I have to finish sewing the blocks together in one, and add borders on the other but I am really excited to be getting so many projects to a stage of completion! The first one is a quilt made from two layer cakes from the "Fresh Squeezed" collection by Sandy Gervais. Its going to be HUGE once the borders on it. I think it finishes at about 90 inches by 108 inches! This one is going on etsy as soon as its quilted and bound.
