postheadericon More 3D - Threader!

Hi All,

So, I think I have found my new favorite long arm quilting tool! I am having so much fun learning how to use my 3D Threader. It allows me to give some really fun texture and depth to the quilts that I am working on. I just loaded a flannel quilt onto my machine and started working on it with the 3D threader. I am loving the results!

For this quilt I decided to use pink, green and a sort of bronze metallic for the threads.

Here's a shot of some of the quilt top "pre-quilting"

And here's a close up of some of the stitching with all three threads! I am loving the results. I can't believe I quilted this one all in one day! It was only 85 by 95! Until next time, Happy Sewing!

postheadericon Quilting Circles

Hi all,

Last week I had the opportunity to quilt some really fun circles on a quilt for a customer. She had done a lovely job piecing and pressing the quilt top, so my job was super easy.

postheadericon 3D Threader... or some really fun quilting

Hi All,

A few weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a conference S.U.G.A.R. which allowed me to learn so very much about my new Gammill Statler quilting machine. While I was there, I saw a new product called the "3D Threader" which allows for up to 3 different threads to be used at the same time on the machine.

I have a quilt top that I have been working on for about 5 years now. It is made up of different fabrics from a line called "Lonestar State" and was supposed to be completed while I was still living in Georgia to give me a little piece of home. The joke was that I was going to have moved back to Texas before the quilt was done. My how things can change. Since I'm staying in Nebraska indefinitely now, I thought it would be good for me to finish it. I knew I wanted a red, white, and blue thread to be used on it, so I decided to try out my 3D threader using a red, a blue and a metallic silver thread. I was super happy with the results.

I chose a rather complex star pattern that I have been dying to try out.

There's a lot going on in this quilt, so I'm glad I decided to try out my 3D threader, since it gives more depth and texture to the quilting.

I've got a few more projects in the works that I'm really excited about! Be on the lookout for fun and exciting quilts in the near future. Until next time, Happy Sewing!

postheadericon Elepinks!

Hi all,

I was digging around in my studio the other day and look what I found! ELEPINKS!

These cute little guys are part of an embroidery design pack by Nancy H. Barrett for OESD a few years ago and, since I LOVE elephants... they were on the top of my list of things to do... then I moved, got married, you know, life happened. SO.... I've got to get back to these guys! They are so stinkin cute! Until next time, Happy Sewing!

postheadericon Embroidered Baby Quilt

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to embroider the name, weight and birthdate of a new baby for a customer. I had a lot of fun putting the embroidery on the quilt for her, especially since she had done such a nice job piecing it!

Here's the whole quilt. It was done out of some really cute barnyard fabrics.

Here's the middle embroidery block with the baby's name.

And look at how nicely she pressed her seams!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy sewing :)

postheadericon My Eva Quilt

Hi all,

Today I decided to be slightly selfish while I was at the studio sewing. I spent the majority of the time I was there working on the border blocks for a purely personal project! I have been working on this monstrosity of a quilt for over three years now (it's going to finish at about 120 inches by 120 inches square!) and I am hoping that sometime in the coming months it will be finished so that I can QUILT IT! I fell in love with this line from BasicGrey when it came out. It is called Eva and has some lovely peacocks and colors in the collection.

This is my backing fabric :) I LOVE these peacocks!

These are my border blocks. They finish at 10 inches and I am making 32 of them!

And this is one of the 9 blocks from the main quilt top. I am really excited about getting to finish this quilt. I think I will be able to put some pretty awesome quilting in to it as well! Until next time, Happy Sewing!

postheadericon Graduation T-Shirt Quilt

Hi all,

I recently had the opportunity to make a t-shirt quilt as a graduation gift for the daughter of a family friend. I was really happy with how it turned out. I've really enjoyed the handful of t-shirt quilts I've been able to work on lately. Designing them is really fun and I like seeing all the interesting and different shirts that people send me. The shirts in this quilt were mainly soccer, as the recipient is an awesome soccer player who is planning on playing in college. I really enjoyed making this quilt, and judging by the reaction of the recipient, I think she likes it too :)

Hope you liked this one. Happy sewing!

postheadericon Two More Quilts

Hi all,

Today I was able to finish piecing two more quilts. I have to finish sewing the blocks together in one, and add borders on the other but I am really excited to be getting so many projects to a stage of completion! The first one is a quilt made from two layer cakes from the "Fresh Squeezed" collection by Sandy Gervais. Its going to be HUGE once the borders on it. I think it finishes at about 90 inches by 108 inches! This one is going on etsy as soon as its quilted and bound.

The other quilt is also made with fabrics designed by Sandy Gervais, this line is called "Flirtations". This is a sassy little quilt. It's only going to finish at about 60 inches by 68 inches. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the blocks all sewn together and the borders on tomorrow so that it can be part of the quilting party I'm going to have next week at the studio.

Stay tuned for more pictures of finished projects and of the quilting of the many quilts waiting at the studio! Until then, happy sewing!

postheadericon My Prince Charming

Hi all,

I  don't know if you know about her, but Tula Pink is one of my absolute favorite fabric designers. One of her recent collections was called "Prince Charming". Well, I bought some of each of the four focus fabrics that have cute frog princes and have been contemplating what exactly I should do with it! Well, tonight, I finally figured it out :) It took 3 of the focus fabrics and then 20 medium prints and 20 darkish prints.

Here are the darks, all cut out and ready to be paired with a medium.

Here are the mediums with the darks.

Then I added the background fabric.

And most importantly, the Frogs from the Prince Charming line!

And... Here's the block I ended up with.

I only got one block made tonight, but I had a blast doing it. Stay tuned to see how this quilt turns out and to see pictures of the 8 quilts that are waiting to be quilted. Should be fun! Also, be on the lookout for another quilt made with fabrics from the Nightshade collection also by Tula Pink!

Happy Sewing!
